It is offered when most people are busy with their worldly pursuits. Its time begins about 15-20 minutes after sunrise (when the sun has risen a spear's length) and extends until just 10 minutes before the Dhuhr (noon) adhan. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) highly advised his companions to consistently observe it. According to authentic Hadiths, praying two Rak'ahs of Duha equates to giving charity on behalf of every single one of the 360 joints in the human body. How to Perform the Duha Prayer and its Number of Rak'ahs -------------------------------------------------------- Performing Salat al-Duha is simple and straightforward; it is prayed like any regular two-Rak'ah prayer: - **Number of Rak'ahs:** The minimum is two Rak'ahs, and the maximum is usually considered eight (some scholars say twelve). It is prayed in sets of two (i.e., you pray two Rak'ahs, say the Tasleem, and repeat if you wish to pray more). - **Recitation:** After the opening Takbir, the worshipper recites Surah Al-Fatiha followed by any portion of the Holy Quran. There are no strictly mandatory Surahs to recite, though varying your recitation is recommended. - **Islamic Ruling:** It is a highly emphasized Sunnah (Sunnah Mu'akkadah) according to the majority of scholars.
