Minor Impurity (Breaking Wudhu) The occurrence of any Wudhu nullifier during prayer, such as passing gas or urine, immediately invalidates the prayer. The worshipper must exit the prayer, purify themselves, and then repeat it. ### 2. Impurity on the Body, Garment, or Place of Prayer If the worshipper knows of the presence of impurity on their body, garment, or the place they are praying and does not remove it while capable, their prayer is invalid. If they did not know about it until after the prayer, it is valid. ### 3. Intentional Speech Speaking intentionally with speech other than the prayer itself (i.e., speech to people) invalidates the prayer, even if it is a single word like "yes" or "no" in response to someone. As for one who spoke forgetfully or out of ignorance, there is scholarly disagreement, and the most correct view is that it does not invalidate. ### 4. Intentional Eating and Drinking Intentional eating and drinking during prayer invalidates it. As for eating forgetfully, there is disagreement, and the safer course is to repeat the prayer. ### 5. Boisterous Laughter Boisterous laughter (audible laughter) invalidates the prayer by scholarly consensus. Smiling does not invalidate it. ### 6. Apostasy (May Allah protect us) If the worshipper holds a belief during prayer that takes them outside of Islam even momentarily, their prayer is invalid and they must renew their Islam, purification, and repeat the prayer. ### 7. Intentionally Omitting a Pillar of Prayer Such as one who intentionally omits bowing (Ruku) or prostration (Sujud); their prayer is invalid because a pillar is an essential component without which the structure is not valid. ### 8. Performing a Pillar Before Its Predecessor in Order Such as one who prostrates before bowing; this invalidates the prayer because sequential order is a condition for the pillars. ### 9. Intentionally Exposing the Private Parts If a part of the worshipper's private parts is exposed and they do not hasten to cover them while capable, their prayer is invalid. If it was involuntary and they corrected it immediately, their prayer is valid. ### 10. Completely Turning Away from the Qibla Facing the Qibla is a condition for the validity of prayer. Whoever turns away from it completely and intentionally, their prayer is invalid.
