What is "Madd with Alif" in Noorani Qaida?

Madd with Alif is one of the foundational elongation lessons. It means lengthening the sound of a Fatha (the short "a" vowel) that precedes a non-voweled Alif (an Alif without any markings or Hamzah).

This lesson teaches the student how to give the letter its proper timing without exaggeration or shortening, forming the core foundation for reciting the Holy Quran with correct Tajweed.

Explanation of the Rule and Practical Examples
----------------------------------------------

To apply Madd with Alif correctly, two conditions must be met: the Alif must be silent (non-voweled), and the letter preceding it (the elongated letter) must carry a Fatha. The sound is elongated for exactly two counts.

- **Example from Surah Al-Fatiha:** In Allah's saying: *(اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ)* (Ihdina as-Siraat), the Alif in the word (Siraat) is preceded by a Ra with a Fatha, so the Ra is elongated for two counts.
- **Another Example:** The word *(قَالَ)* (Qaala), where the Qaf has a Fatha followed by a silent Alif.
